The Academy provides you personal support for sharpening teaching skills, achieving stronger learning outcomes and positioning yourself for local and national success.
There are multiple membership categories:
Academy Members, who are current UNMC faculty, staff and clinical preceptors.
Associate Members, who are UNMC learner, such as students and residents.
Affiliate Members, who are external faculty and staff from our educational partners, such as individuals from UNO and Nebraska Medicine.
Emeritus Members, who are retired UNMC faculty and staff.

The Academy Member category is intended for faculty, staff and clinical preceptors who exemplify dedication to teaching excellence. You must have one year of employment at UNMC (by the time of Induction) to be considered for membership to the Academy.
Application Applications are by self-nomination. Your online application should include:
Delineation of established or emerging area(s) of excellence with associated narrative and supporting evidence.
The Associate Member category consists of our learner-student and resident-learners. It is open to individuals from any college, program or institute. Associate Member status is for a one-year, initial academic term, renewable as long as you are at UNMC and remained engaged in Academy activities.
Applicants must be sponsored by a current Academy Member.
Application Applications are by self-nomination. Your online application should include:
Short narrative explaining why you are interested in membership.
Any prior related teaching or related experience.

The Affiliate Member category is intended for non-UNMC faculty, staff and community partners who either extensively support and/or exemplify dedication to teaching excellence. These members participate in Academy events and special interest groups to strengthen the partnerships and resources available to UNMC IAE members sharing exemplars of best practices and innovations for learning.
Applicants must be sponsored by a current Academy Member.
Application Applications are by self-nomination. Your online application should include:
Short narrative explaining interest in IAE membership.
Explanation of experience and contributions to learners or learning community.
The Emeritus Member category includes retired faculty and staff who were Academy members before their retirement. To move your membership from Academy Member to Emeritus Member, simply email us.
